The Iowa
Program for Infant/Toddler Care is a unique training and
consultation program offered to childcare providers, parents
and other caregivers of infants & toddlers
as well as
those working with the families of infants & toddlers.
The goal of PITC is to help caregivers recognize the crucial
importance
of giving tender, loving care and assisting in the infants'
intellectual
development through an attentive reading of each child's cues.
Training
The IA PITC training consists of 50 training hours divided
into five
10-hour modules based upon the Program for Infant & Toddler
Caregivers (PITC) curriculum of WestEd and the Department of
Education of California
and the
Beginning Together curriculum of Sonoma State University.
Each module consists of five two-hour lessons. Caregivers are
encouraged to attend all five modules consecutively but may
attend a module at a time, as it’s offered, if space is
available in the training. A bonus may be available to
caregivers attending the training in its entirety. Please
contact the Regional Infant/Toddler Specialist for more
information.
